Leap Second Committee (Dissolved In 2008)

Charge: This ad-hoc committee was formed to consider the proposed increase in the maximum time difference between UT1 (based on Earth rotation) and UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) from less than a second to as much as an hour, and to make a recommendation to the AAS Council at its meeting in January 2007.
