Job Description:

The science team of the K-GMT (Korean-Giant Magellan Telescope) project in KASI (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute) invites applications for the K-GMT Postdoctoral Fellowship in astronomy, to begin in the September/November 2010. KASI is a founding member of the GMT (Giant Magellan Telescope) Corporation.

We encourage applications from areas of Galactic astronomy, particularly the massive star formation, evolution, and death. The K-GMT science team has active research interests relevant to the Giant Magellan Telescope and the massive star science will be the one of them. We are in the verge of establishing the science project using 4-m class telescope and the fellow is expected in working in this project, as well as his/her own science.

The successful candidate will be provided with the remuneration (starting from around 30,000,000 Won (˜25,000 USD) per annum; the currency conversion rate between US Dollar and Korean Won employed here is 1.00 USD equates 1,200 Korean Won). Conference and observing travels will be supported. The other benefits, such as the health insurance, retirement allowance and dormitory, will also be provided.
