Job Description:

CSIRO is seeking a dynamic post-doctoral researcher who will use the newly-upgraded Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) to probe the origin and evolution of galaxies using millimetre and centimetre wavelength observations, in both line and continuum modes. This will include studying the dust and CO, as well as synchrotron emission, in high-redshift galaxies. To do so, the postdoc will become an expert user of the ATCA, and will help ATNF staff to refine calibration and imaging processes. This expert knowledge will also prepare the postdoc to be a leading user of next-generation telescopes such as ALMA.

The position will be based at the CASS headquarters in Sydney, Australia, which is a vibrant coastal city of over 4 million people. CASS staff share colloquia and other meetings with the Anglo-Australian Observatory and local University departments, with a constant stream of external visitors, students, and observers, creating a friendly and stimulating astronomical environment.

Applicants must have (or will shortly satisfy the requirements for) a PhD degree in astronomy, astrophysics or related disciplines. A generous discretionary research allowance will be available to the successful candidate together with assistance with relocation, medical insurance and other benefits.

Included Benefits:

CSIRO is strongly committed to Diversity and offers Flexible Working Arrangements and enhanced leave entitlements.
