Job Description:
We are searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team to simulate systematic errors in future experiments to observe the cosmic microwave background radiation. In particular, we are studying the feasibility of constructing interferometers with large numbers (~ 1000) of antennas to search for the B-mode polarization signal from primordial gravitational waves. Experience in CMB data analysis and strong computing skills are highly desirable. The successful applicant will be located at UW Madison and will have the opportunity to work with team members at Brown, Illinois, LBNL, Richmond and the University of Paris VII. An additional opportunity exists to design a radio interferometer to study dark energy using 21-cm tomography. This team includes members at Carnegie-Mellon, Fermilab, Orsay and Saclay. The appointment is for two years with possible extension for a third year and can begin immediately. The position will remain open beyond the July 2010 deadline if it has not yet been filled. The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Please send a CV and names of three references to Prof. Peter Timbie. UW-Madison is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. We promote excellence through diversity and encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
