Job Description:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in exoplanet characterization in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, University of California, Santa Cruz. The successful candidate will work with Assistant Professor Jonathan Fortney on the characterization of exoplanet atmospheres, interior structures, and other topics, using photometric data from NASA's Kepler Mission. Professor Fortney is a Kepler Participating Scientist. Prior research experience in exoplanets is preferred. Prior research experience is analyzing time-series photometric data sets is strongly preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or equivalent in Astronomy, Planetary Science, or related fields

TERM OF APPOINTMENT: Appointment is for 1 year, with renewals for a second and third year likely, contingent upon satisfactory progress (and funding in year 3).

POSITION START DATE: September 2010, though earlier starting dates can be easily accommodated and are not discouraged.
