FACULTY POSITION OBSERVATIONAL ASTRONOMYIOWA STATE UNIVERSITY
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in observational astronomy to begin August 2009. The Astronomy and Astrophysics Program currently has active research efforts in stellar, galactic and extra-galactic astronomy. The department is also fostering collaborative work on the nature of dark matter between our astronomy, high energy, and high energy astrophysics groups. The department especially seeks candidates whose work overlaps existing efforts, or is in this developing area.
Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Astronomy or Physics, and a demonstrated record of research accomplishments normally achieved through postdoctoral experience and publication of results in top-tiered journals within the discipline. All candidates should demonstrate promise for excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
